Winter’s farmers markets in California remind us of the State’s agricultural abundance: Crisp apples, citrus fruits, squashes, root vegetables, bountiful greens, flowers, mushrooms and even artichokes! Old Oakland Farmers Market is right outside our door every Friday. Stop in for lunch, and to stock up on spices. Scoop up some dried beans, legumes & specialty salts from our bulk foods section to combine with your market purchases. While you’re at it, get some imported grating cheeses, good olive oil and an extra special bottle of vinegar (we have lots) to enhance your winter cuisine. After lunch, grab a carefully crafted cappuccino next door at Caffe 817, and check out the Pop Up Hood shops along Ninth St. for vintage, one-of-a-kind finds to locally-made arts, crafts & jewelry.
